ABOUT THOMAS

Tom is a skilled trial attorney having served as principal attorney in over 150 complex civil and criminal trials. He has handled appeals on all levels in the federal and state system. He represents individuals and non-public businesses in civil and criminal proceedings.


Tom has been rated “AV” by his peers which is the highest rating an attorney can achieve and it indicates the highest levels of legal and ethical professionalism. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the practice area of Criminal Defense: White-Collar and is recognized in Super Lawyers, a publication of Thomson Reuters.


Tom attended Kansas State University and has a B.A. and J.D. with honors from Washburn University School of Law. He attended on scholarship, serving on the Washburn Law Journal and was a senior fellow under longtime Dean of the School of law, John E. Howe. Tom later taught Practice Court at Washburn School of Law, teaching law students skills in advocacy.


After graduation, Tom served as an Assistant District Attorney and Chief of the Major Offender Unit; Chief Counsel and Director of Enforcement for the Kansas Securities Commissioner; Deputy Attorney General and Chief of the Criminal Division for the Attorney General of Kansas and ended his government service as an Assistant United States Attorney and Head of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas, Topeka Division. For over 25 years Tom has represented not only Kansas individuals and businesses, but clients across the United States and internationally.



Tom is a member of the American, Kansas and Topeka Bar Associations. He is the former President of the Topeka Lawyers Club and is a two-time recipient of Topeka Legal Professionals’ Boss of the Year. He has published numerous articles in professional journals and is also a published author of the novel “Accused by the State.”
