ABOUT Jay

Jay’s practice focuses on all aspects of Non-Profit and Corporate Law. Jay handles the formation, re-organization, and sale / acquisition of businesses of all types, including obtaining exemption determinations from the IRS for non-profits. For both for-profit and non-profit organizations, Jay drafts employment agreements, compensation agreements, company policies and handbooks, and assists organizations with employment issues.

In addition to formation and exemption determination, as part of his non-profit practice Jay can assist in developing best practices and policies for the organization, including conflict of interest, investment, and spending policies. Jay has dealt with tax credit refinancing, state and local requirements for property and sales tax exemptions, and assisted in training for boards of directors.

Prior to law school, Jay worked in the field of commercial lending which gave him a strong background in sale, purchase, and real estate transactions. The sale of company assets, stock, and other forms of ownership sales, as well as any related documents, are all areas of law in which Jay has experience.

Jay currently lives in Topeka, Kansas, and is active with the Helping Hands Humane Society and currently serves as the Vice President and Secretary of their Board of Directors. His favorite pastime is taking his dog Bender on adventures through the various nature trails around Topeka and throughout Kansas.
